Second born son of Baron Angharad Kendrick, Anffylon served for a time as a man at arms to his father, but left Kendrick lands soon after his father’s death. His relationship with his brother, Baron Aneirin I, was considered cold, but not acrimonious. He used his inheritance to purchase a small merchant vessel, and through smart business investments later founded the Steadfast Trading Company with a partner, and traded in his knars ship for a cog, which he continues to captain.
When the Baron sent his first born to Amon, in his place stayed Berhanu. Berhanu is a healer, and a scholar, and while the adopted son of the Baron, and afforded all the privilege that goes with it, people of the Barony mistrust him. He is treated by the Baron’s children more like an uncle, and they afford him the respect of one. He also serves as physician to the Baron, and his been his caretaker for the last ten years, treating his “old war injuries.”
Iastyn Kendrick, while second born, has been groomed to be the heir to the family lands. He has been tutored as such his whole life, and is considered a consummate commander, and is well loved by the Baron’s people for his innate charisma, and genuinely good nature. He has always wondered on the older brother he only barely remembers, and despite his repeated queries, his father has never given him a satisfactory answer on why his brother was sent away.
First born son of Aneirin Kendrick I, Aneirin the younger was sent away at the age of 8 with a contingent of Amonite warriors. His expulsion from Kendrick lands, as the de facto heir, was seen as scandalous by many of the influential lords. Rumors abounded concerning what dark pact the Baron must have made with the Amonite sect to warrant the surrender of his own son. Aneirin has not been seen since his departure nearly ten years ago.
Mairwen is the very image of her mother, and she knows very little about her. Her father, while loving, has been distant and unreachable her whole life. While she adores her brother, she struggles knowing she has an older brother, who to the best of her understanding, was banished when she was only 4. She spends more time shirking her court training, escaping her matron, and playing in the forest with her friend, Owain. Her father’s advisors have said it is time to find her a suitable marriage, and she is weighing her options on how best to escape it all, and live a simple life in the woods.
Winner of three footman tourneys in Alendor, and the only son of Count Giles Severin, Estienne is a feared opponent with a sword, and a reviled lord of his house. He carries a reputation for cruelty for those beneath him, deep deference to those above him, but he is also known to have fair respect to those he considers his equal; although he considers few to be as much, with the exception of his Aunt Julia. He is brash with his father’s money, and despises his father, who considers swordplay the arena of soldiers, and not commanders. His mother, however, dotes on him, and encourages his brash behavior.
A purveyor of fine imported goods, Orden founded the Steadfast Trading Company with Anffylon Kendrick, and serves as a full partner in the business. Orden manages the contracts, and Anffylon manages the shipping operations. Orden is a savvy judge of behavior, an astute negotiator, and is alarmingly, and perpetually, sober. He is also known to keep well stocked in liquor, and is generous with those he negotiates with.
Owain lives on a cottage in the woods near the Kendrick Estate. His great grandmother treated and saved an ailing Anffylon Kendrick (grandfather to the current Baron), and as reward he gifted her the land for 100 years. Owain has become friends with Mairwen, and she often sneaks away to the cottage to be with him, and his strange grandmother, whom he calls his “momma.” It is well known both he and his grandmother are Fey Touched, and as such are well avoided by most in the Barony.
